Oral Appliances Cypress, Texas 77429
According to the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, “oral appliance therapy is an effective treatment option for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea” (see AADSM website: aadsm.org/oralappliance.aspx). These appliances look similar to mouth guards and are custom fitted to each patient. The mouthpieces are created using direct mouth and teeth digital measurements along with physical impressions.
Oral appliances offer many advantages for patients. These devices are easy to care for, comfortable, and convenient for travel. They are lightweight, cost-effective, and offer the first line of defense when treating sleep apnea. A thorough evaluation by our trained dentist at Village Park is necessary to determine if an oral appliance is right for you.
These appliances are worn only at night and are effective in helping to correct poor sleep quality, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnea. Talk to the dentists at Village Park Dental Center to learn how an oral appliance may help you get a great night’s sleep.
Pap Devices
PAP (positive airway pressure) machines are widely used to treat both moderate and severe cases of sleep apnea. A mask is worn over the mouth or nose and mouth with an attached flexible tube which supplies pressurized air into the airways. The pressurized airflow works to keep the air passages open during sleep and prevents the airways from collapsing. The pressurized air eliminates the sleep interruptions and allows for a good night’s sleep. These devices must be used continuously, and, when used properly, patients reported improved sleep and reduced snoring.
